Kampala Youth Recovery helps recovering Substance user – heroin & crack

Greetings to everyone hearing this recording, I am by the names of Segawa Harrison Pounds and I was once an addict of heroin, crack and so many other drugs in the drug world. It hasn’t been an easy journey since I began using in the drug world. Right now, I am in my recovery and I’m so happy doing this with my doctor, Doctor Grace Bikumbi of Kampala Youth Recovery Solutions. He has been with us, taking good care of us and we’re so blessed and glad to have him. It hasn’t been an easy journey but right now I’m on my recovery and I’m trying my level best. I started drug abuse in 2012/13 when I was at campus in my first year, I was doing mass communication but I didn’t complete it as some crisis came up between me and my maternal uncle.

I grew up with my mom. my dad and her had separated so I stayed with her. things weren’t easy, I grew up with my mom and she passed away when I was entering my first year at campus. That’s when I started living with my maternal uncle. I got into some crisis with him that led me out of the home. When my mom passed away, he came and engaged with all my mom’s property and came into her house and turned our maid into his wife and they produced three kids to date. I stayed with my maternal uncle for some time and saw that he wasn’t capable of paying my tuition. That’s why we got some crisis with him. And as you know someone who has been a maid at your home now has a say at home as a wife in the house. She couldn’t treat me as well. I decided to move out to my friends where I could get peace and that’s where I got engaged with this drug world.

I’m on medication now. I’m at MAT clinic Butabika with my doctor, Doctor Grace.  It has not been an easy journey because I took almost seven years in the drug world. I’m doing good thanks to the Kampala Youth Recovery Solutions, Doctor Grace, big up. we are now fighting for the other youth so that they also can see this light because everything is going crazy in this Uganda and this the entire world. We’re so grateful to every person who supports and does not allow youth to use drugs. Thank you so much. Big up to Doctor Grace Bikumbi. Love you, man.
